Two Months

Jude and I went to his two-month appointment last Monday.  He is now 10 lbs. 10 oz. and 22 inches long (40th percentile and 20 percentile respectively), and 10th percentile for head size. 

We talked about Jude’s sleeping patterns –last week he was sleeping on average 6 hours at night – and the pediatrician said that he’s ahead of schedule for dropping the 11-12 o’clock feeding.  The last few days he’s been doing about 7 1/2 hours, and last night he did 9 1/2!  He was also taking two 3-hour naps a day until we came to Utah.  We’ve been lucky to get an hour at a time since we’ve been here.

Dr. D was also impressed with how well Jude holds up his head when he’s on his stomach, though he said that it could be in part because of how small it is compared to other babies’ heads…

Poor little Jude had to get three shots in his legs for his 2-month vaccinations.  He was good though; he only cried for a minute and then just snuggled me and then slept for 10 1/2 hours that night.  He’s such a good baby boy.  We are lucky!

Not as lucky with the pooping, though.  Jude managed this the other day.

Jude at 2 months:

1. Gave me his first real smile about two weeks ago.  It was the cutest.  He’s smiling more now, but it still takes some effort to get it out of him – I can’t wait til he smiles all the time.

2. Has started making talking noises.  His little sighs are so cute and I finally understand what people mean by “cooing”.

3.  Is so funny in the bath.  As long as there is a warm wash cloth on him, you can tell he totally loves it.

4.  Loves his Grandma Bready.  She can get more smiles out of him than anyone.

5.  Is not falling asleep as easily in his car seat.  He prefers 60 miles an hour or faster, or else he will yell at you.  Michelle and Gladys were lucky enough to experience this last Saturday.

6. Snores.  Seriously.

7.  Has the worst haircut.  What will I do with it….

8. Is so excited for Christmas.  He told me so.

9.  Makes lots of noises – Gladys claims he is the noisiest baby she’s ever heard.

10.  Is so sweet and cute.  We love our baby boy.

Jude meets Great Grandmapa

Grandma Barbara and Grandpa Ray came to town for a few weeks on their way to Florida for their winter hibernation so they finally got to meet Jude and Mike!  Jude was cranky at first but was nice and sweet after a good meal. 

Mike and Grandpa bonded.

The second time we went up to visit, Mary came too.  Thanks for visiting Grandmapa! It was so fun to see you!

More alike than we look

Ok, so this doesn’t actually prove anything.  But it’s cute.

Bath Time = Crazy Time

Let me tell you about Jude’s bath last night.  He quite enjoyed it – we didn’t hear a peep from him as dad sprinkled warm water all over (the pictures and videos are from a bath last week).  Then came time to take him out.  Mike handed him to me and I wrapped him up in his towel…until I realized he was full out peeing  at which point I handed him back to Mike to put back in the tub (after which I noticed he had also pooped in the towel).  So we rinsed him off, I got a new towel, and we took him out again – and then I felt poop oozing down my hand.  At this point Mike and I were laughing so hard we could barely get him back into the tub to wash him up for the THIRD time.  When he came out he went straight to the changing pad and got a diap put on before anything else! 

I have to say, instances like that are more entertaining when dad is around to experience them with me.

Sleepin’

Not much exciting going on here.  Jude is really filling out – we’ve noticed little creases starting in his arms and legs.  I don’t think I’ll be worrying about weight anymore…

Now when Jude moves during tummy time he usually ends up at a different angle than what he started at.

He always falls asleep in the car seat, thank goodness.  Also, he starting to make more really cute noises when he falls asleep – little baby sighs.

We love going on walks with the sling.  Also somewhere Jude always falls asleep.

Because sleeping is what Jude does best.

A sleepy skeleton

This guy slept through trick-or-treating with the Hoods.  He’s not a very scary skeleton.
