Mike and I carved pumpkins Tuesday night. By the time Mike finished his on Wednesday and took pictures, the left eye on mine (right) had already started wilting. Sad.

Jude and I went to the doctor for his one month appointment last Thursday, the 20th. Jude weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and was 21 inches long. Jude is 40th percentile for height and 20th percentile for weight. Our pediatrician commented that he is on track to be a tall skinny dude! At the appointment we also decided that Jude’s feedings need to be shorter now that he is becoming more alert, and we don’t need to worry anymore about him sleeping through feeding times. Yay Jude!
At one month Jude:
1. Kicks his feet and flips his head from side to side during tummy time. Oh, and likes to keep us on our toes with a surprise roll.
2. Is much more alert and is awake more often.
3. Isn’t really cooing at us yet, but we are hearing more of those types of noises from him.
4. Usually sleeps for 3-4 hours in between meals. Lately, though, he has been snacking during mealtime and then wakes up early in between feedings, making it hard to get anything done while I’m actually awake during his naps. Time to get back on track Jude!
5. Likes to fall asleep while being burped in between drinks. Sometimes (more like all the time) it’s hard to say no and wake him back up to eat more.
6. Loves sleeping on his Daddy.
7. Is getting more squirmy during diaper changes, but at least doesn’t cry during them. Also, lately he’s going through about 3 onesies a day at the rate he gets poo or pee on them.
8. Makes the funniest noises while he sleeps.
9. Falls asleep during car rides.
10. Is excited to meet his family in Utah at Thanksgiving!
Of course.
Jude got his first bath in the tub a few days ago. By the time I took a video he was not happy with us anymore.

(Mike likes to do Jude’s hair after baths)
I have been having quite the adventure with Jude. Some stories as of late are:
1. This afternoon I went to change Jude’s diaper, and while it was off (after I had cleaned him off) he peed all over the wall and poo’d everywhere. Needless to say, he got a bath after that. Also, I am really glad I bought a changing pad and since then have been changing him on only that rather than our ottoman. Fewsh.
2. Two nights ago (or should I say early morning), I had just finished changing Jude’s diaper and had just laid him back on the boppy pillow to eat some more when suddenly I felt warm and wet all over my stomach. Pee. Was. Everywhere. I don’t get how it all came out of the diaper. So Jude got another diaper change and a wipe bath and Mike got to snuggle Jude in bed at 5 in the morning while I changed. Then later than day while he was nursing, he stopped to take a breath and spilled an ounce of fresh milk out of his mouth and down my side. Two clothing changes in one day – thank you Jude.
3. On Sunday during tummy time Jude rolled over! Not intentionally, I’m sure, but exciting nonetheless. I’m sure it will be a few months before we see it again.

Here’s Jude after some bed cuddle time with me.
We had some pumped milk in the fridge so Mike got up with Jude Saturday morning to let me sleep in. Apparently, while I was asleep, Jude had his first blowout and then peed all over during the bath Mike was giving him to clean up the blowout. So he got two baths. All day Saturday he didn’t eat very well, and we found out why when he had a giant spit up all over Mike’s hands Saturday night. So Jude got three baths on Saturday. We thought he deserved some cuddle time after all that.
I was wondering how he managed to get out of this the other day. I’m guessing a velcro was missed…
Jude was eating his hand during tummy time on Saturday.
Our friends the Bennetts showed up at our door Saturday morning with these donuts from Krispy Kreme. Yum! Thanks you guys! I love the holidays.

Last Friday Mom and I went in for Jude’s 2 week appointment. He was 6 lbs. 7 oz. 10th percentile for height and weight. He’s a small one.
Things we love about Jude:
1. He’s so sweet. He barely cries – he’s just likes to hang out with us and is not hard to please. He’s also staying awake more and more and just looks up at us from the Moses basket.
2. His hair. I’ll have to take a picture of the back – he was practically born with a mullet.
3. If I snuggle him in bed with me in the morning when he wakes up hungry, he’ll go back to sleep. Of course, when I do this I feel terrible when I wake up an hour or two later and realize how long it’s been since he’s eaten…
4. He’s so snuggly and smiles all the time.
5. He makes the funniest noises and I love every single one of them. I love his grunt, his heavy breathing when he drinks too fast, his squeaks when he’s hanging out awake, his angry yell when he’s hungry that sounds more like a laugh than a yell. I love them all.

Jude’s first visit to the pediatrician. He didn’t have a great time.
Recovering…
While at the pediatrician’s, the nurse pointed out Jude’s ears. Though they aren’t that bad, they are a little flattened and pointy at the top. There is a plastic surgeon in the area who can fix infants’ ears like this with ear molds if they’re started within 10 days of the baby’s birth. Apparently the ear cartilage is still so malleable at birth that the molds can easily reshape them within 6 weeks. Mike and I weren’t sure whether to do it or not, but we decided it’s better to fix them now so he never has to be self-conscious about them.
The backing of the molds have to stick to his head so the doctor had to cut his hair around his ears.
Not really what I imagined for his first haircut.
I tried really hard not to cry as he was putting them on. They’re not hurting him so I’m not sure why it was so hard to watch. Jude was perfect – just hung out and didn’t say a peep during the whole thing. He’s so sweet.
I will be happy when the six weeks is up and I don’t have to worry about these things coming off.
Sponge-bath time with Grandma! Jude does not love bath time yet.
Aunt Susie came to meet Jude on Saturday. They got along pretty well.
Everyone loves cuddling with Jude.
A few days ago Mike came home from work, picked up the Moses basket Jude was sleeping in and claimed he was just going to take him into the bedroom with him. When I went in a few minutes later I found this:
Tummy time. Jude’s neck is already really strong – he’s always holding his head up to look at us while we’re burping him.
Mom and I finally bought a mattress so Jude got to try out the crib today.
He was looking so cute in this outfit the other day until he threw up all over Mom while she was burping him without a burp cloth. He also peed all over her a few days ago with she decided to change his diaper on her lap.
Jude was circumcised today, poor guy. I’m normally good about putting him in the Moses basket to sleep rather than holding him, but today I let him lay in my lap for a while after nursing because I felt so bad for him.
He’s pretty cute.
